Week 20: March 9-15
Babies are the size of: pick your produce (bananas, butternut squash, carrots… really, they are just getting big at this point.)
Exercise: After spending 18+ hours in the vehicle for the drive to Texas, I was anxious to get some exercise in the gorgeous sunshine of Dallas. It was glorious, but I have to wear a pregnancy belt now to keep my back from hurting with too much exercise.
Best moment this week: We attended a black southern-gospel style church service while in Dallas. Our brothers and sisters have so much spirit and rhythm! Turns out the babies LOVED it. They were rolling and kicking through the whole service. I felt a bit like Elizabeth when John “leaped” in her womb:
“When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.” Luke 1:41
Miss Anything? Stamina
Food cravings: Coffee… we found this delightful cafe called Weekend Coffee in downtown Dallas. I sipped a delectable decaf mocha and even enjoyed a taste of Shane’s Guatemalan coffee.
Also, I still want ice cream… all the time. Hence the Whataburger shake excitement.
Anything making you queasy or sick: feeling the babies roll around.
Genders: Boy and Girl.
Labor Signs/prep: Continued prayer and close communication with God.
Symptoms: Congestion and exhaustion
Mood: Distractible… I loved hanging with these awesome people all week… helping in the clothing storehouse, VBS, and other neighborhood outreach ministries kept us busy!
Lullaby of the week: Stick by You, by Andrew Lipke. I first heard this song in 2008. I shared it with Shane, who at the time was “just a friend.” His friendship meant so much to me then, and has continued to be a steadfast example of God’s love to me through our dating, engaged, newlywed, and now (almost) parenting years. I look forward to singing this song to our awesome kids, adopted and biological.
Truth I’m dwelling on: Our love has sticking power, but it is NOTHING compared to the love of Jesus Christ…
“for He Himself has said, I will never leave you or forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5
Looking forward to: A lighter schedule with more time to concentrate on resting, purging our house before the move, and getting our baby registry all set up.
Sorry the update was a few days late… we returned to Sheridan and jumped into catch up mode! Someone tell me to slow it down and say “no” more often 🙂
